Real Madrid's rising star Thiago Pitarch chooses to represent the Spain national team

Real Madrid’s young midfielder, Thiago Pitarch, announced his decision to represent the Spanish national team at the international level, thus ending the Royal Moroccan Football Federation’s hopes of including him in the ranks of the “Atlas Lions.”

During a press conference held on Friday, while revealing the “La Roja” national team’s roster for the friendly matches between Serbia and Egypt this month, the Spanish national team coach, Luis de la Fuente, commenting on Pitarch’s decision, stated: “The most important news is that Thiago wants to play for Spain. He is a very committed boy with the Spanish national team,” and added: “We completely respect whoever decides otherwise, but we are very pleased that Thiago chose to wear our shirt.”

It should be noted that Pitarch was born in the Spanish city of Fuenlabrada in August 2007 to a family of Moroccan origins, which gave him the right to obtain both Moroccan and Spanish citizenship and thus the freedom to choose between representing one of the national teams.

The 18-year-old player is considered one of the most prominent emerging talents on the European continent at the present time, especially after he succeeded in establishing himself within the Real Madrid first team squad, and participated in 5 matches recently.
