On Thursday evening, the United Arab Emirates issued a statement in which it revealed that it had dismantled a network that the statement described as terrorist, receiving financial and administrative support from “Lebanese Hezbollah” and “Iran,” in addition to arresting members of this network located inside the country.

According to what the Emirates News Agency reported from the State Security Agency, this network was carrying out its activities under the guise of a shell commercial company inside the country, with the aim of infiltrating the national economy and implementing external agendas that endanger the state’s financial stability.

The agency reported that the movements of this network were in line with a pre-prepared strategic plan in coordination with external parties linked to “Lebanese Hezbollah” and “Iran,” as it violated the economic and legal systems through money laundering and terrorist financing operations, which constitutes a threat to the security of the state.

The UAE State Security Service stressed that any attempt to exploit the national economy or civil institutions for terrorist or sabotage purposes will be dealt with with all decisiveness and force, stressing that it will not allow any foreign interference that threatens the security or stability of the state, regardless of its source or the pretext behind which it is hidden.

This announcement coincides with the escalation of security tensions in the region, as the Kuwaiti Ministry of Interior recently announced that it had foiled a terrorist plot that was targeting vital facilities in the country, following the arrest of ten people that it said were linked to external parties linked to “Hezbollah,” and they intended to provide those parties with information about sensitive sites within the country.

The Kuwaiti authorities confirmed that the defendants are under legal procedures in preparation for their referral to the competent authorities, stressing that the country’s security and stability are a red line that cannot be tolerated, in light of the security and military escalation taking place in the region, which increases the level of preparedness in a number of countries.
