The Israeli army spokeswoman reported, through her account on the “X” platform, that the Israeli Air Force, in coordination with the Navy and Military Intelligence, carried out air strikes targeting sites in northern Iran, for the first time since the start of Operation “Lion’s Roar.”
The statement stated that these strikes had occurred earlier, noting that “greater details will be published later,” without revealing the nature of the targets or the extent of the damage caused.
The Israeli army also published photos of Air Force and Navy commanders supervising the implementation of air operations from within the Air Force Command Center, which reflects the level of operational cooperation between various military units.
Targeting northern Iran is a notable development in the course of the Israeli military operation, which was previously limited to targeting sites in Tehran and its suburbs, in addition to military and nuclear sites in the center and south of the country.
These air attacks come as part of Operation “Lion’s Roar,” which Israel began in conjunction with the major escalation that began on February 28, as Israel and the United States launch continuous raids on military and security targets inside Iran, while Tehran responds with missile and drone attacks targeting Israel and American bases in the region.
The past few weeks have witnessed an escalation in the intensity of the confrontation, with important military and political figures being targeted, and vital infrastructure being hit, raising growing fears that the conflict will turn into a broader regional war.
