A horrifying toll...the number of casualties among American soldiers exceeds 200

In a report by journalist Dan Lamothe published by the Washington Post on March 16, 2026, the US Army reported that the number of its soldiers injured during the war with Iran exceeded 200 soldiers in seven countries in the Middle East, which reflects the scale of the confrontation and the human losses resulting from it.

US Central Command spokesman, Captain Tim Hawkins, said that casualties were recorded in: “Bahrain, Iraq, Israel, Jordan, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and the UAE,” and pointed out that most of these casualties occurred at the beginning of the war. He added that more than 180 soldiers resumed service after treatment, while some injuries appeared later, especially related to brain injuries resulting from explosions.

These losses come in light of the escalation in the pace of operations from the Iranian side, which launched waves of missiles and suicide drones, targeting American military sites and civilian targets in several countries, as a response to the broad military campaign that the administration of President Donald Trump began about three weeks ago.

Last week, the US Department of Defense announced that more than 140 soldiers had been injured, including 8 serious injuries. Then the number rose to 10 serious injuries after re-evaluating the conditions of some of the wounded. In addition, 7 American soldiers were killed in the Iranian attacks, and 6 others were killed in a refueling plane crash in Iraq, which the US military described as an “accidental” accident.

The deadliest attack was on February 28 in Shuaiba Port in Kuwait, where a drone targeted a tactical operations center, killing 6 American soldiers. Another soldier also died from wounds he sustained in an attack on Prince Sultan Base in Saudi Arabia.

Regarding military operations, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Dan Kean, confirmed that the majority of the injuries were the result of drone attacks, noting that a large percentage of the wounded had returned to service, and that about 90% of the injuries were “minor.”

At the same time, the United States and Israel continue to intensify their strikes inside Iran. Central Command announced that US forces targeted more than 7,000 sites, while Israel carried out about 8,000 additional strikes, targeting: “missile installations, weapons depots, and air defense sites.”

The Commander of Central Command, General Charles Cooper, confirmed that the American forces are achieving complete air superiority, noting that the military operations aim to “undermine Iran’s ability to threaten the Americans and their allies in the region,” as the confrontation continues and expands in scope.
