
Residents of the Lebanese villages adjacent to the Syrian town of Sarghaya issued a statement clarifying their position, stressing the importance of maintaining good relations with their neighbors, the residents of Sarghaya, in the wake of the recent security events that took place in the border region.
The statement said: “Oh our neighbors, the respected people of the town of Sarghaya, you know that Israel tried to attack our towns by carrying out a military landing, especially in the towns of Al-Kharibah and Al-Nabi Sheth, where its soldiers entered our lands.”
The statement added that the residents of the area “had no choice but to confront the invading forces and expel them,” stressing that the Israeli soldiers “withdrew after the confrontation.”
Residents indicated that as a result of the clashes that took place in the border area, it is possible that some fragments or projectiles may have fallen on lands near the border with the town of Sarghaya, due to the nature of the overlapping lands and the wide scope of the clashes.
The statement stressed that the people of the Lebanese villages “are keen to maintain good neighborliness with the residents of Sarghaya, especially in light of the sensitive security conditions that the region is going through.”
They also stressed their interest in the safety and stability of the town and its people, to the same extent that they care about protecting their villages and its residents, pointing out that this statement comes in light of the accuracy of the current stage and the nature of the new security developments on the border.
The statement concluded by emphasizing the need for understanding and cooperation between border villages to confront the security challenges facing the region.
