The price of a loaf of bread increased today, as the Minister of Economy, Amer Bsat, issued a decision approving the sale of a loaf of bread weighing 840 grams at a price of 70,000 liras to the consumer directly from the oven, and 67,000 liras to distributors. As for its price in stores, it reached 85 thousand Lebanese pounds.
Union sources reported toLebanon24“The increase in prices came in accordance with the platform used by the concerned authorities in the pricing process.
The source explained that in reality, the price of a loaf of bread increased by only 2,000 Lebanese pounds, taking into account the increase in its weight to 830 grams.
The source pointed out that the main factor that affected the price of the bundle was the price of diesel. While bakeries used to buy a ton of diesel for $675, today its price has reached $1,000, in the midst of the global crisis affecting energy prices.
The source also pointed out that once energy prices decline globally, prices will be reduced again.
