Israeli security experts have warned of the threat posed by Iranian missiles since the beginning of the military escalation, stressing that a large percentage of them carry fission warheads capable of causing mass destruction.
Israeli media also reported that security officials stated that about half of the missiles launched by Iran since the beginning of the conflict contain fissile warheads, which increases their danger due to the widespread spread of their fragments.
This warning comes after two workers were killed at a construction site in central Israel after being hit by a missile of this type during recent attacks.
Officials pointed out that the danger of these missiles lies not only in the amount of explosive materials they carry, but also in the fact that their flying fragments can spread over a distance of approximately 10 kilometers, which makes compliance with security guidelines extremely necessary.
They also added that interception fragments generated by air defense systems, whether from interceptors or large missiles, can be lethal and pose a danger to civilians.
On March 1, the Israeli Broadcasting Corporation reported that Iran fired fission missiles toward Israel, causing shrapnel to fall in multiple areas, including northern and central Tel Aviv.
In a related context, former Pentagon advisor Douglas MacGregor believed that Iranian technological development in the field of missiles exceeded American expectations, pointing out that some Iranian missiles have become capable of penetrating advanced air defense systems.
