New feature in "Google messages" Prevents sending unintended Smart Replies

“Google” has begun launching a new feature in the “Google Messages” application known as “Tap to Draft,” which aims to reduce common errors associated with using smart responses, and give users greater control before sending suggested messages automatically, a problem that previously bothered many.

Faster responses, but with greater guarantee

This feature relies on providing suggestions for ready-made responses based on the content of the incoming message. In current versions of the app, tapping on a suggestion sends a response directly without the ability to edit it, which can sometimes send an unintended message.

But with the new “Tap to Draft” update, the smart response will not be sent immediately after clicking on it, but rather it will be added to the writing box as a draft, allowing the user to modify the text or add words before sending.

Noticeable improvement in user experience

The change may seem simple, but it is of great practical importance, as many users were sending suggested responses by mistake while browsing options or as a result of an accidental click.

The new feature adds a review step before sending, reducing embarrassment or misunderstanding that can result from automatic replies that don’t fit the context of the conversation.

Gradual distribution of users

According to technical reports, Google has begun gradually launching this feature in the Google Messages application, and it is expected to reach a larger number of users in the coming period.

The company often takes this approach to its updates, testing new features with a limited group of users first before launching them widely to ensure they are stable.

This update comes as part of a series of continuous improvements that Google has added to the messaging application, including real-time location sharing, updates to the interface, and better support for “RCS” messages, in a move aimed at enhancing the application’s ability to compete in the messaging application market, and providing a smoother use experience for Android users.
