After a distinguished performance, Saudi international defender Saud Abdul Hamid led his team, Lens, to achieve victory over Metz with three clean goals in the twenty-fifth round of the French Football League, ending a series of negative results.
Abdel Hamid (26 years old), who joined on loan from Italian club Roma last summer, opened the scoring for his team, Lens, in the 44th minute with a perfect shot, announcing his first goal in the French League this season.
This goal is the second goal for the former Al-Ittihad and Al-Hilal defender during the 22 matches he played in various tournaments this season, after he previously scored a goal in the French Cup, in addition to providing four assists.
After Abdelhamid’s goal, Florian Thauvin and the Malian substitute player, Amadou Haidra, increased Lens’ lead by scoring the second and third goals in the 46th and 52nd minutes, respectively.
With this victory, “Lance” raised his score to 56 points, benefiting from the defeat of leaders “Paris Saint-Germain” against “Monaco” (1-3), making the difference between them only one point.
This victory comes three days after “Lance” qualified for the semi-finals of the “French Cup” after its exciting victory over “Lyon” on penalty kicks 5-4, after regular time ended in a 2-2 draw.
On the other hand, “Metz” continued its series of declining results, as it failed to achieve victory for the thirteenth match in a row, and its score remained at 13 points in the last place in the table.
