
Napoli achieved an important victory at home against Torino, 2-1, on Friday, at the opening of the twenty-eighth round of the Italian League competitions. With this victory, Napoli reduced the gap between itself and Milan, the second-placed team, to one point, awaiting the match that will bring together Milan and Inter on Sunday.
Brazilian Alisson Santos opened the scoring for Napoli in the seventh minute, and North Macedonian Iliev Elmas added the second goal in the 68th minute after an assist from Matteo Politano. Torino was able to reduce the score in the 87th minute through a header by Cesare Casadei, but time was not enough for Torino to adjust the score.
The match witnessed the return of two prominent Napoli players, Kevin De Bruyne and Frank Anguissa, from injury. De Bruyne participated in the 79th minute, while Anguissa entered at the beginning of the second half, in order to strengthen the team’s strength in its quest to qualify for the Champions League next season.
