Slot before Wolverhampton: We create many opportunities and wait for Salah and Jacopo

Liverpool coach, Arnie Slot, announced his intention to invest in the abilities of Mohamed Salah and Cody Jacobo in exploiting the opportunities created by the team, with the aim of achieving titles. This came before facing Wolverhampton in the FA Cup, following Liverpool’s 1-2 defeat in the last round of the English Premier League.

In the press conference, Slott stated that Liverpool had “more possession of the ball”, and therefore it was reasonable to expect them to create more chances. He added that he expects Jacopo and Salah to exploit these opportunities effectively by scoring, stressing that this is what they also expect from themselves. He stressed that the attack is not limited to these two players only, and that the defense also does not depend entirely on “Virgil van Dijk” and “Ibrahima Konate,” stressing: “Let us create more chances, and the goals will come.”

Slott indicated that there are some options available to make adjustments to the lineup, but he clarified that these options are not “11 complete options,” indicating that this is not the first time this season that the team has played three days after losing points, while emphasizing the need to perform better than the previous match.

Regarding the defeat against Wolverhampton in the league, Slott said that its analysis is not complicated: Liverpool possessed the ball a lot but did not create enough chances, and although they created “enough chances to win” they were unable to convert them into goals, while their “first attack” ended with a goal, adding that the team must be better in the next match.

He also touched on the issue of anxiety resulting from repeated losses, pointing out that the method of receiving goals in decisive moments is not always the same, and that some goals do not come from clear opportunities, stressing that the main goal is to prevent the competitor from obtaining dangerous opportunities.

He concluded his speech by emphasizing the importance of winning every possible tournament, and that qualifying for the Champions League is “huge,” but the FA Cup match against Wolverhampton is “very big” for Liverpool.
