Al-Nasr Club announced on Tuesday that team captain Cristiano Ronaldo suffered a muscle injury, without specifying how long the Portuguese star will be absent from the ranks of the team that is at the top of the Saudi Professional League.
Al-Nasr explained in a statement published on his account on the “X” platform: “The medical examinations conducted by team captain Cristiano Ronaldo showed that he suffered a muscle injury in the team’s last match,” and added: “The player will begin a rehabilitation program, during which he will undergo continuous evaluation until he returns to group exercises.”
Ronaldo had left near the end of the 3-1 win over Al-Fayhaa at the beginning of the week, after missing a penalty kick, and it was clear that he was affected by the injury. It is noteworthy that “Ronaldo” (41 years old) scored 22 goals in 26 matches in various tournaments with Al-Nasr this season.
Al-Nasr, which leads the league standings with 61 points, two points ahead of Al-Ahly, which is in second place, is preparing to face NEOM next Saturday.
The statement also mentioned the postponement of the Al-Nasr match against Al-Wasl of the United Arab Emirates, which was scheduled to be held tomorrow, Wednesday, in the first leg of the round of 16 of the AFC Champions League 2, based on the AFC’s decision to postpone its continental championship matches in the Middle East region due to the tense conditions and ongoing conflicts, especially in light of the state of high alert after the American and Israeli raids on Iran and the Iranian response by targeting sites in the region.
