The Instagram application announced the launch of a new safety feature that aims to alert parents immediately when their teenagers repeatedly search for content related to suicide or self-harm.
This initiative aims to improve the level of safety in the digital world by activating “supervision tools,” where parents will receive notifications that include educational and guidance materials to help them start conversations with their children and provide them with the necessary psychological support. The platform will begin applying these alerts in the United States, Britain, Australia, and Canada, with plans to expand its scope to include other countries around the world later.
This smart monitoring comes as a response to attempts to overcome current restrictions, in order to ensure that parents intervene in a timely manner to protect children from digital risks, in conjunction with a global trend towards imposing more stringent laws on social media platforms.
