Malicious software threatens the privacy of smartphone users: instant hacking in just a few seconds

Cybersecurity specialists have warned of the emergence of a new generation of advanced spyware, capable of penetrating smartphones within a few seconds. These programs mainly target Android and iPhone users by exploiting complex security vulnerabilities.

This malware, most notably the recently discovered “DCHSpy” program, relies on deceptive methods that begin by sending suspicious links or exploiting “Zero-Day” vulnerabilities in the operating system.

Once the device is hacked, the software begins its work in secret without any notification to the user, as it steals huge amounts of data, including the current geographical location, photos, and conversations of encrypted applications such as “WhatsApp.” Technicians pointed out that the danger lies in the ability of some of these programs to secretly control the phone’s camera and microphone, even without showing the operating indicator (LED), which makes detecting the spying process difficult for the average user.

These campaigns also aim to collect call logs and contact information, and send them to external servers belonging to international hacking groups.

To address these threats, security experts stressed the importance of following a set of preventive measures, the most important of which are:

1. Immediate update: Install security updates for the operating system as soon as they are released to fix discovered vulnerabilities.
2. Daily restart: “Restart” the phone on a regular basis, which helps in disabling some types of temporary spyware.
3. Beware of links: Avoid clicking on links that come from unknown sources or downloading applications from outside official stores.
4. Monitor performance: Pay attention to any unusual battery consumption or sudden increase in Internet data usage, as these are potential signs of malware running in the background.
