High losses "Telefonica" Spanish to reach $3.8 billion

The Spanish telecommunications company Telefonica announced significant losses in the last quarter of 2025. The company’s financial deficit reached 3.24 billion euros (about 3.8 billion US dollars), which represents a significant increase in losses of 224% compared to the same quarter of last year, when losses reached one billion euros.

Financial performance indicators

Despite these large quarterly losses, the company reported in its financial statement on Tuesday that revenues saw a slight growth of 0.7%, reaching 9.17 billion euros compared to 9.11 billion euros the previous year.

Adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) also rose slightly, indicating relative strength in core operations despite financial challenges.

Achieved goals and future expectations

Telefonica confirmed that it has achieved all its financial goals for the year 2025, and issued positive forecasts for the current and next year. The company expects income and operating income growth of between 1.5% and 2.5% in 2026, thanks to digital transformation strategies and improved efficiency in its key markets.

It should be noted that the company’s stock has witnessed significant fluctuations in the recent period, as it previously recorded the third largest decline in its history, but management confirms its commitment to financial sustainability and developing communications networks to keep pace with the increasing requirements in the global technology sector.
