The Lebanese regions are currently experiencing stormy weather with no rain, as wind speeds increase significantly, while the sky remains partly overcast with clouds, waiting for precipitation to begin in the coming hours. The danger currently lies in the strong winds hitting various areas, especially the coastal ones, before the rain front gradually advances in the afternoon and evening.
In this context, the head of the estimates department at the Meteorological Authority, Muhammad Kanj, explained in an interview with, “The weather today is extremely windy, as the wind speed in Beirut reaches 80 km/hour, and may exceed 90 km/hour in the northern regions.”
He added that “the intensity of the winds will cause sea waves to rise to between 3 and 4 meters during the evening period,” stressing that the Authority has issued warnings in this regard, especially about the danger of rising waves and flying billboards and falling objects.
King continued, “The winds begin to gradually subside in the afternoon and evening, followed by rain that will be heavy at times and accompanied by lightning and thunder,” noting that “snow will fall at an altitude of 1,800 meters during the day, and its level of falling will decrease at night to about 1,500 meters, especially in the northern regions.”
According to King, “The chances of rain will continue until Thursday morning, and range from light in some areas to medium to heavy at times, but the general nature will be moderate rain with widespread periods of intensification.”
On Thursday, the weather begins to gradually stabilize with a rise in temperatures during the day. On Friday, the morning temperature will be relatively cold, before gradually rising again during the daylight hours.
Regarding the end of the week, King pointed out that “Saturday will witness an additional rise in temperatures, with fluctuations returning in the evening with chances of light rain, while a new low is expected to begin to affect as of Sunday, leading to noticeable fluctuations and a drop in temperatures starting in the afternoon and evening.”
King concluded by noting that “the period of fluctuations extends between the 22nd and 25th of this month, where volatile weather prevails with sporadic rains that are sometimes heavy, interspersed with short periods of stability,” stressing that “stable days will be limited compared to rainy days, even if the rains are generally intermittent and not constantly heavy.”
