
The Electricité du Liban Corporation issued a statement in which it explained that, “Within the framework of implementing the national emergency plan for the electricity sector, and in accordance with the existing cooperation with international bodies to enhance financial sustainability, improve collection, and reduce technical and non-technical waste, the Corporation continues its intensive campaigns to control infringements on the electrical network and organize arrest reports against violators, within a strict and clear policy based on the application of applicable laws and regulations in a way that guarantees the protection of public money and ensuring justice among subscribers.”
The Foundation indicated that, “Since April 2025 until today, 2,938 arrest reports have been organized against violators in various Lebanese regions, and a portion of their total value has been collected, while a number of reports have been referred to the judiciary for legal follow-up. The financial details and the number of reports are shown in the following table:” where the numbers are separated as follows:
Paid minutes: Number of minutes: 2,938, value in Lebanese pounds 254,000,000,000 LBP, equivalent in US dollars $2,839,107, notes: collected in full.
Reports referred to the judiciary (from September to November 2025): Number of reports 345, value in Lebanese pounds 19,000,000,000 LBP, equivalent in US dollars $212,290, Notes: They are collected gradually.
The total value of all records since April 2025: The number of records is 3,283, the value in Lebanese pounds is 355,000,000,000 LBP, the equivalent in US dollars is $3,996,480, Notes: Includes records paid and referred to the judiciary.
The Corporation confirmed its continued cooperation with the Ministry of Energy and Water in implementing its reform plan in full coordination with the concerned authorities. In this context, the Corporation was able to collect 10-month arrears with a total value of 907,265,558,027 Lebanese pounds, which is equivalent to about 10,137,045 US dollars.
She also stressed that “collecting arrears and combating infringements constitute a fundamental pillar in the process of reforming the sector and achieving justice among citizens, as commitment to paying bills and not trespassing on the network contribute directly to improving the electrical supply and stabilizing the service.”
In conclusion, the Foundation extended its “thanks and appreciation to the judicial authorities and security forces for their constant support of the campaigns to remove violations, and their efforts in following up on the files and taking the necessary legal measures, in a way that preserves the rights of the public treasury.”
