Meta Company intends to integrate facial recognition technology into its smart glasses, a move that may facilitate the process of identifying people instantly, but raises widespread controversy over issues of privacy and security.
Media reports indicate that Meta, the parent company of Facebook and Instagram, is working to integrate this technology into its smart glasses, in a move that is expected to spark extensive discussion about privacy and security issues related to wearable technology.
According to a recent report based on internal documents, Meta intends to launch a new feature called “Name Tag,” which allows users to identify people simply by looking at them through smart glasses and requesting information from the built-in smart assistant.
“Name Tag” technology is a facial recognition feature that can reveal the identity of people with whom eyeglass wearers interact by connecting to meta account data or public profiles found on the company’s websites.
This new feature can display names, descriptions or other relevant information about individuals in real time via the smart assistant located inside the glasses.
This technology will likely be included in Meta smart glasses models such as the Ray-Ban Meta glasses or future versions thereof. (Erm News)
