Pavel Durov, founder of the Telegram app, announced that the version for Android devices had undergone “the most comprehensive redesign” in a decade.
Durov explained: “The Telegram application for Android devices has received the most comprehensive redesign over the past ten years. We launched a new update to the application, and it is now available for all compatible devices.”
“There are still some details that need to be finalized, but overall, the update is complete and available to everyone,” he said.
This new update comes with almost completely redesigned user interfaces, making the browsing and searching process faster and easier. A new bottom bar has also been added to the user interface to facilitate immediate navigation between conversations, settings, personal files, and other sections.
The application has also been provided with a new feature to rationalize the device’s power consumption, allowing it to disable animation and visual effects. This feature can be accessed through the settings menu in the application, then choosing the “power saving” mode to improve performance and save battery power.
Among the other new features that have been added is “transferring permissions when leaving the group,” whereby if the founder of a chat group decides to leave it, all permissions will be automatically transferred to one of its moderators after a week has passed. When they press the Leave button, a confirmation window will appear allowing them to choose an alternative to take over the group if they wish.
