The Pentagon is seeking to make artificial intelligence tools, including those developed by leading companies such as OpenAI and Anthropic, available on its secret, classified networks. This effort aims to reduce the restrictions that these companies usually impose on users.
Emil Michael, the Pentagon’s chief technology officer, said during an event at the White House last Tuesday that the military aspires to make AI models available on classified networks, according to sources familiar with the matter.
Reuters quoted an official who requested anonymity as saying that the Pentagon “is moving towards deploying advanced artificial intelligence capabilities across all classification levels.”
