The Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported that there is ongoing coordination with the Lebanese authorities with the aim of returning members of the former Syrian regime to Syrian territory, within the framework of arrangements agreed upon between the two parties.
In the context of a statement broadcast on Al-Sharq Channel, the Syrian Foreign Ministry explained that 300 Syrian prisoners currently in Lebanese prisons will be transferred to Syria, noting that there is no specific timetable for completing this transfer.
It is noteworthy that Lebanon and Syria have concluded a judicial agreement in the Government Palace regarding the exchange of prisoners between the two countries, whereby convicts are transferred from the country that issued the sentence to the country of which they hold citizenship. The signing ceremony took place in the presence of the Prime Minister, Dr. Nawaf Salam, the Syrian Minister of Justice, Mazhar Al-Wais, the Deputy Prime Minister of the Lebanese Government, Tariq Mitri, and the Lebanese Minister of Justice, Adel Nassar, in addition to an official Syrian delegation.
