The Chargé d’Affaires of the Embassy of Japan in Sudan, Takanobu Nakahara, announced the allocation of a new financial grant worth 3 million US dollars, aimed at supporting the wheat cultivation project in the Nile River State. He stressed that this grant is part of an aid package that includes 19 different projects, all of which aim to enhance food security within the country.
During a meeting with the Sudanese Minister of Finance, Jibril Ibrahim, Nakahara indicated that the process of implementing this grant will take place in cooperation and coordination between the Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO). He added that this cooperation aims to ensure achieving the desired objectives of the project and expand the base of its beneficiaries.
This initiative comes as part of the continued support that Japan provides to Sudan, to help it overcome the economic and humanitarian challenges it faces, especially in light of the current conditions that the country is going through. According to the Sudanese Al-Mashhad website, food security represents one of the most important priorities for the Sudanese government and the international community.
