The Asian Football Confederation announced today, Wednesday, the list of countries that have officially applied to host the next two editions of the Asian Cup, and the list witnessed a notable presence of Kuwait, which submitted two requests to host the 2031 and 2035 editions.
Kuwait will face strong competition to host the 2031 edition, as it will face nominations from Australia, India, Indonesia, and South Korea, in addition to a joint bid between Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan.
As for the 2035 edition, the competition will be limited to Kuwait, Australia, Japan and South Korea.
This announcement follows a proposal from the President of the Asian Confederation, Sheikh Salman bin Ibrahim, to choose the two host countries for the two editions simultaneously, a move that analysts believe is aimed at enhancing long-term strategic planning for the tournament.
The AFC will soon begin communicating with the federations that have submitted requests, in order to receive official documents in accordance with the specified regulations and timetable, in preparation for making the final decision regarding the countries that will host the tournament.
