Syria: Destiny "Old lira" After the replacement decision

As the process of replacing the old Syrian currency with the new version continues, the Central Financial Supervision Agency in Syria continues its mission of closely supervising all stages of this process, starting from receiving the old currency and sorting it all the way to its destruction.

These stages include starting to collect old currency in bank branches spread across various governorates, to then be transported to the centers designated for destruction. This measure aims to ensure the soundness of all steps taken, protect public money, and enhance confidence in the monetary policies that are implemented.

In a statement to the Syrian news agency SANA, Muhammad Ghafir, the agent supervising the oversight of the economic sector in the agency, explained that the agency carries out its legal role in monitoring the procedures for receiving and destroying old Syrian currency. He stressed that the goal is to ensure the soundness of these procedures from a legal standpoint, and to follow up on commitment to implementing them in accordance with the established standards. He added that this follow-up is carried out on an ongoing basis to ensure its compliance with the laws, achieve the highest levels of transparency, and prevent any form of abuse or waste of public money.
