Weather fluctuations: The month of February renews its promises of weather fluctuations between stability and depressions

The month of February continues to confirm its climatically volatile nature, as it oscillates between periods of temporary stability and strong weather depressions, and initial forecasts indicate noticeable depression activity in the second half of the month.

In this context, engineer Ali Jaber, a researcher in weather conditions and climatology, told: “The weather begins to improve as of today, Wednesday, as Lebanon is witnessing a state of atmospheric stability accompanied by a slight rise in temperatures.”

Jaber also explained that: “This stability will continue during Thursdays and Fridays, with volatile weather returning between Saturday and Sunday,” stressing that “February is considered one of the most volatile months of the year in terms of climate, as instances of high and low air pressure alternate during it.”

He continued, saying: “Polar depressions are usually active during the second half of February,” noting that “the initial indicators that appear on weather maps indicate the possibility of the region being affected by strong activity of a number of depressions, especially after the tenth of February, while emphasizing that these forecasts are still subject to change due to the long time frame.”

Jaber pointed out that some analyzes show: “The possibility of the formation of an effective depression carrying abundant amounts of rain accompanied by a drop in temperatures, and preliminary indicators of a possible polar descent appear around the fifteenth of February, but this matter is still unresolved and may change.”

He stressed that: “Optimism still exists regarding the continued activity of depressions in the region, which means that the winter season is still present in force during the month of February.”

He concluded his speech by noting that: “The rain has begun to gradually subside today, with the weather turning to partly cloudy at night, while during the coming days weather ranging between cloudy and partly cloudy will prevail, with a gradual rise in temperatures until approximately Friday.” Rapid activity of the tropical high is also expected before the weather returns to volatility during the weekend, as the country is likely to witness sporadic and sometimes comprehensive rains, but for short and intermittent periods, followed by a new phase of regular weather depressions after the tenth of February.
