Noticeable progress on the issue of prisoners and an imminent sit-in in front of ESCWA headquarters

A delegation from the follow-up committee for the file of prisoners in Hezbollah, accompanied by MP Hussein Haj Hassan, head of the Baalbek-Hermel deputies bloc, visited the family home of the prisoner Abdullah Khader Fahda, who is detained in Israeli prisons, in the town of Al-Qasr – Hermel district. The visit was also attended by Sector Seven official Nasri Al-Haq and members of the sector committee.

During the visit, Haj Hassan stressed the importance of redoubling efforts to keep the issue of prisoners in the spotlight until they are liberated. He explained that they began to put pressure on the state through a meeting with Prime Minister Nawaf Salam, in addition to requesting an appointment with Speaker of Parliament Nabih Berri. He also indicated that they are preparing to organize a sit-in next Wednesday in front of the ESCWA building in Riad Solh Square in Beirut.

He added that the main focus of their action is based on exerting pressure on international organizations, especially the International Committee of the Red Cross, with the aim of allowing them to visit prisoners in Israeli prisons and learn about their conditions. He pointed out that Israel rejects this as part of its policy to put pressure on the families of prisoners, the resistance and those around them.

In another context related to political affairs, Haj Hassan called for serious preparation to run in the upcoming parliamentary elections through active participation to strengthen the political position of the national duo and their allies in the parliament nationwide. He stressed adherence to a unified and solid political situation despite the difficulties and pressures exerted by the United States and Israel, stressing continued steadfastness and not yielding.

At the end of the visit, the delegation presented the father of the prisoner Fahdah with an honorary shield and a CD containing a message from the Secretary-General of Hezbollah, Sheikh Naim Qassem, to the prisoners and their families.
