Liverpool legend, Steve Nicol, believes that the Reds’ match against Newcastle in the English Premier League revealed to him some facts about the Egyptian star, Mohamed Salah.
Liverpool defeated Newcastle United in the match that brought them together on Saturday evening at Anfield, in the twenty-fourth round of the Premier League.
“Mohamed Salah” started and assisted a goal for his teammate, “Florian Wirtz,” but “The Pharaoh” missed a sure scoring opportunity, before he was replaced by “Federico Chiesa.”
Steve Nicol believes that there is no imminent improvement in Liverpool’s performance, and that the team’s star, Mohamed Salah, may not regain his previous level, as he sees a clear decline in the player’s fitness.
In statements to ESPN, Nicole said: “We are all asking the same question: How can his level decline so quickly? It usually takes some time when the player begins to lose his speed, balance, and all of these things.”
He added: “Kieran Trippier plays every week and is no longer able to run with the same force. Salah was ahead of him by about 4 yards after a wonderful pass from Dominik Soboslai, but Trippier easily caught up with Salah.”
He added: “In fact, Salah does not play with the same comfort and does not have the same abilities that he showed before in terms of speed, and this is the worst thing for a football player. He retreats without knowing the reason.”
He concluded: “This affects everything he does. Now, every time he misses an opportunity, his self-confidence is shaken. It seems that this confidence has disappeared, because once he finds himself in a situation where he was able to put the ball into the top corner, he is no longer able to do that at all.”
