Updates "gbt chat": Stopping old models and paying attention to capabilities and performance

OpenAI issued a statement stating that it will stop providing support and operation for some older models of GPT Chat within the application interface, starting from the thirteenth of this month of February.

The company disclosed in an announcement published on its official blog and its help section, that the models affected by this suspension include GPT-4o, GPT-4.1, GPT-4.1 mini, and o4-mini.

The company also clarified that this decision is limited only to the use of these models within “GPT Chat” itself (i.e. the application/interface), and does not include the developer interface.

The company confirmed that it will allow developers to continue using old models that will be discontinued for ordinary users.

The company justified this decision by saying that the majority of users have already moved to using more advanced models such as GPT-5.2, and that it wants to focus its efforts on the most popular and widely used models.

She also indicated that one of her goals with this decision is to unify efforts and focus on newer and more powerful models such as GPT-5.2, in addition to new features related to speech and control. (Erm News)
