Real Madrid announced that its star midfielder, Jude Bellingham, will be out of action for about a month, after suffering a hamstring injury during the 2-1 win over Rayo Vallecano in the Spanish Premier League, which was held on Sunday.
The 22-year-old English player left the field just nine minutes after the start of the match hosted by the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium.
Bellingham showed clear signs of pain when he suddenly stopped while trying to catch a long ball, as he felt pain in his left hamstring, and left the field with a limp.
This injury comes at a sensitive period of the season for Real Madrid, which occupies second place in the league table, and is one point behind leaders Barcelona.
Real Madrid will face difficult challenges in Bellingham’s absence, starting with the next match against Valencia on Sunday.
It is also expected that Bellingham will miss the two Champions League playoff matches this month against the Portuguese team, Benfica.
