Ezz El-Din issues official clarifications to end the controversy over... "Spoiled milk"

Representative Inaya Ezz El-Din announced in a tweet on her account on the “X” platform that she had received clarifications from the Minister of Economy and Trade, Amer Al-Bassat, regarding the issue of spoiled infant formula, which has recently spread news. He stated that three major international milk extraction companies had withdrawn their products from the markets of dozens of countries due to the discovery of their contamination with a toxic substance.

Ezz El-Din explained that Minister Al-Bassat paid great attention to the issue and urged its follow-up, which led to ensuring that there were no cans of spoiled milk in the Lebanese markets. She indicated that the results of the Ministry of Economy’s investigations confirm that Lebanon does not import milk products of the brands Aptamil, Pivot, and Bledilait with the type and weight mentioned in the recall notices, and therefore these brands are not available in the Lebanese market.

She continued, saying that the Minister explained that Aptamil Advanced infant formula, which had previously been imported, is still in stock in an estimated quantity of 1,500 cans, and is not for sale in the markets and is completely withheld.

Ezz El-Din stressed the importance of taking all necessary measures to ensure continuous monitoring of food products intended for children, in order to avoid any errors that may negatively affect food security in Lebanon.
