A surprising position: Ahmed Hariri praises and criticizes old opponents "Allies abandoned"

In the context of his tours in preparation for the commemoration of February 14, and during a meeting held yesterday, Saturday, in the central Bekaa region, the Secretary-General of the “Future Movement” Ahmed Hariri issued a remarkable statement that included unprecedented praise for two of the movement’s most prominent opponents historically. On the other hand, he directed harsh criticism at those he described as “the creation of the movement” who abandoned Prime Minister Saad Hariri in the first test.

Hariri cited MP Jihad Al-Samad, saying that the latter “was defending President Saad Hariri even though we were against him for a long time,” noting that the strangeness today is that “not one of those whom Saad Hariri had favored appears to defend him… not a single one.”

In the same context, Hariri considered what was happening “illogical,” explaining that “it is not acceptable for Minister Wiam Wahhab to come out in every interview to defend Saad Hariri, while others who are supposed to be his first defenders do nothing.”

At the conclusion of his speech, Hariri stressed that “there were those who were helped by Saad Hariri and stood by them, but today they were the first to stab him in the back and left him and walked away, as if nothing had happened,” in a clear reference to officials and figures whose political star rose thanks to the support of the “Future” movement, before they turned against its orientations or avoided associating with it.
