Retired Brigadier General and Chairman of the Executive Board Shamil Roukoz issued a statement today on behalf of the Association of Veterans of the Armed Forces and Military Action in Beirut on 01/31/2026, where the association confirmed that after many years of promises made to retired military personnel and active military personnel, it has become clear that the Prime Minister has pledged before the Parliament to establish their rights before the end of February.
The statement stressed that the demands are specific and not subject to bargaining, the most important of which are:
* Approval of school aid at 100% of its value in the State Employees Cooperative.
* Correcting family compensation for the wife and children to be similar to what is applied in the private sector.
* Correcting salaries, starting with a minimum of 50% of the value of 2019 salaries, adding a gradual increase of 10% every six months, to reach a salary that guarantees a decent standard of living.
The association explained that this pledge is documented in an official record in the House of Representatives, and that any reversal or delay in its implementation is considered a clear declaration of popular confrontation.
The association stressed that field work remains the best solution if rights continue to be ignored, stressing that it will not hesitate to continue its movements until full rights are achieved.
The statement concluded by emphasizing that the demands of the military are basic rights that preserve dignity and social stability, considering that “action today is a right, and victory tomorrow is inevitable, and rights are not begged for, but rather taken away.”
