Haj Hassan: "We have nothing to talk about north of the Litani"

Representative Hussein Al-Hajj Hassan, an official in the Baalbek-Hermel parliamentary bloc, explained that Lebanon had fulfilled its commitment to cease hostilities, while Israel had not committed to doing so. He added that the United States did not play its required role, but was the first to violate the agreement, and is still continuing to undermine its provisions with the aim of pressuring Lebanon and forcing it to make concessions.

Hajj Hassan’s statements came during a political meeting organized by Hezbollah’s Public Relations Department in the town of Younine, in the presence of figures, events, and people of the town.

Hajj Hassan criticized the way Lebanese officials dealt with American pressures and demands, considering that they responded to them without having a clear vision or strategy, contenting themselves with responding instead of confronting them with a comprehensive national policy. He asked: “How do you intend to deal with the enemy’s demands in the coming days without having any pressure card?”, warning that the successive concessions that have begun will not stop in the face of the United States and Israel.

He stressed the need for the government to be “of one heart,” and for some ministers not to justify the enemy’s narrative and ignore its ongoing violations and crimes against Lebanon.

Regarding the agreement, Hajj Hassan stated: “After Lebanon has done everything it was obligated to do, we no longer have anything to offer or talk about north of the Litani River at all. What is required first is a complete Israeli withdrawal, a complete cessation of aggression, the return of the prisoners, the start of the reconstruction process, and the building of a national security strategy, and only then can the issue of weapons be discussed.” He added: “Otherwise, we will not give the enemy what he could not obtain in the most difficult days and during the wars that we faced with great steadfastness.”

In the context of the parliamentary elections, he affirmed their support for holding them on time and in accordance with the law, and called on the supporters of the resistance and its environment, the environment of the duo, and all allies, to begin preparing for the elections, from organizing travel matters to verifying voter lists.

He also directed his speech to the families of the martyrs, the wounded, the prisoners, the mujahideen, and all those who love it, calling for the widest possible participation, and working to achieve the highest voting percentage, to deliver a clear message to everyone, that the choices of the resistance environment are firmly established and will not be shaken, regardless of the circumstances, which will achieve results that have political impacts on Lebanon’s future, its pride, its dignity, its true sovereignty, and its actual independence.

In a separate context, it was mentioned that the Prime Minister, President Nawaf Salam, had promised, the previous day, before the General Political Assembly, that a draft law would be discussed during the month of February aimed at improving the conditions and salaries of the military, expressing his hope that the government would adhere to this promise.
