Gazzetta dello Sport reported that the Monaco club management is seriously considering terminating the contract of French midfielder Paul Pogba, due to the frustration that clouded his return to the stadiums after the suspension period, and the failure of the experiment to achieve the hopes placed upon it when contracting with him.
The newspaper added: “Although Pogba’s contract with the club theoretically extends until the summer of 2027, current data indicate that there is a conviction within the corridors of Monaco of the necessity of re-evaluating the player’s future, especially after his very limited participation since his return, as he only played 30 minutes in official matches.”
Pogba returned to the stadiums after the end of his suspension period due to the doping case, amid high hopes of regaining his level and effectively contributing to achieving the team’s goals at the local and continental levels. However, repeated injuries and incomplete physical readiness prevented him from performing at the desired level, which negatively affected his presence in the starting lineup.
The newspaper concluded: “There is a state of anticipation regarding the next step, whether through early termination of a contract by mutual consent, or searching for another transfer formula during the coming period, at a time when the club realizes that the continuation of the current situation does not serve the team’s ambitions nor the player’s path.”
