The President of the Republic, Joseph Aoun, in the presence of the Minister of Economy, Amer Al-Bassat, received the Chairman and members of the Board of Directors of the “Rashid Karami International Fair”, in a meeting that discussed ways to revitalize the role of the fair and enhance its position as a supporter of development and the economy in the city of Tripoli and the north.
During the meeting, President Aoun urged the development of the exhibition and modernization of its infrastructure and functions, stressing that the development of the north represents a fundamental pillar of stability and prosperity in the country, and pointed out the importance of developing a practical plan that restores the exhibition to its basic function as a driver of economic and cultural activities and specialized exhibitions.
Aoun said: “Tripoli is in my heart, and it has been and will remain a space of convergence and a bright image of an open and productive Lebanon,” noting that the city, with its human capabilities, strategic location, and cultural heritage, is capable of regaining its effective role whenever it finds determination and executive plans.
For his part, the Chairman and members of the exhibition’s Board of Directors reviewed the current situation of the facility and the challenges it faces, in addition to their vision for the future, stressing their readiness to work with the relevant authorities to put the exhibition on the path to prosperity and attract events and investments.
This meeting comes within the framework of the growing official interest in the city of Tripoli and its important institutions, especially the “Rashid Karami International Exhibition”, which is considered one of the most important economic and architectural landmarks in Lebanon, and which in recent years has witnessed many attempts to revive it after long periods of stagnation.
These endeavors also coincided with previous government discussions about stimulating the economy in the north, encouraging investments, and launching development initiatives that help address the social and economic problems facing the region.
