The atmosphere in Lebanon will witness relative calm during the next two days, accompanied by stable weather and a limited rise in temperatures, before the picture turns with the arrival of a rapid depression on Tuesday evening, carrying heavy rains and active winds, especially in the northern regions.
In detail, the head of the Surface Estimates Department at the Meteorological Department stated, Muhammad KingThe weather today and tomorrow will be clear to few clouds, with a noticeable rise in temperatures to exceed their seasonal averages tomorrow, coinciding with a clear decrease in humidity.
On Tuesday, the weather is expected to become partly cloudy as temperatures begin to decline, while winds will increase, reaching speeds of about 60 kilometers per hour. In the evening hours, the country comes under the influence of a rapid depression coming from Greece and Turkey, whose effect begins on Tuesday evening and continues until Thursday morning.
According to estimates, Wednesday will witness heavy rainfall without a significant drop in temperature, with snow falling at an altitude of 1,500 meters and above. The rain will cover most of the Lebanese regions, but the northern regions are expected to receive the largest share of it, as usual.
Regarding the amounts of rain recorded to date, the city of Tripoli recorded about 450 mm out of an annual average of approximately 475 mm, compared to only 275 mm during last year, which means that the current amounts are close to the annual average and have almost doubled what was recorded last year.
Zahle also witnessed a noticeable increase in precipitation rates, as the amount of rain recorded to date reached about 275 mm, compared to 150 mm in the same period last year, while its annual average reaches about 360 mm.
Expectations indicate that atmospheric stability will return until the end of January, with Lebanon being affected again by a new depression on January 31 and February 1, which will bring weather fluctuations back to the forefront.
