The loss is fatal.. Van Dijk comments on Liverpool’s new downfall

Virgil van Dijk, Liverpool’s defender and captain, was clearly frustrated following his team’s 3-2 defeat to Bournemouth in the English Premier League match held on Saturday evening.

Van Dijk told Sky Sports: “I am very disappointed, because accepting a loss by a goal in the last minute remains difficult, especially after we made a great effort in the second half to return to the atmosphere of the match.”

Regarding his objection to the referee’s decision to award the third goal, he said: “I felt like I was surrounded by Bournemouth players while taking the throw-in, but the referee and video technology decided to award the goal, and I think it is not correct.”

He added, “The first goal was caused by a miscalculation due to the strong wind, and it was difficult. In general, conceding two goals in 7 minutes is not a bad thing, but it is not good at the same time, and the goal we scored in the first half was important for us to continue strong in the match.”

He continued: “In the end, we lost with a goal from a throw-in. It is easy after the match to blame, but what happened happened, and loss remains a painful feeling for any Liverpool player, and this season we are trying to reach a state of stability.”

At the conclusion of his speech, Van Dijk said: “There is no room for doubting the cohesion of our team, but we still need to find the stability we are looking for. We must deal with reality, perform well, and win matches.” (Sky News)
