YouTube is rapidly moving towards greater reliance on artificial intelligence in the field of visual content creation, so much so that viewers may soon watch a video that does not include any real footage of its creator.
“Neal Mohan,” the CEO of YouTube, stated this information in his annual letter, explaining that content creators will soon be able to produce short videos based on their images created by artificial intelligence.
“This year will enable the creation of a short film using the user’s personal image, the production of games based on simple text, and the experimentation with music, and throughout this evolution, artificial intelligence will remain a tool for expression, not a substitute for others,” Mohan wrote.
He pointed out that short videos on YouTube, which are designed to be quick to watch, get nearly 200 billion views per day.
Regarding AI-generated images, YouTube is expected to allow creators to use them soon, while emphasizing the prohibition of copying other people’s images, as the company has launched a similarity detection technology to protect faces and voices from unauthorized use in videos.
In addition to these facilities, YouTube also aims to reduce the spread of poor content produced by artificial intelligence and misleading deepfakes, as “Mohan” stressed that distinguishing between real and fake content has become extremely important and sensitive.
Despite these efforts, the company’s policy on monitoring and removing misleading content continues to face challenges on this open platform.
“Mohan” concluded his message by saying: “To reduce the spread of low-quality artificial intelligence content, we are actively developing our well-established systems that have achieved great success in combating spam and misleading advertisements, in order to reduce the spread of repetitive, low-quality content.” (Eram News)
