U.S. President Donald Trump announced the reaching of a “framework for a future agreement” on the issue of Greenland and the Arctic region. This announcement came after a meeting Trump described as “a very productive meeting” he had with NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte.
Trump stated via his account on the “Truth Social” platform that this meeting resulted in a preliminary understanding “regarding Greenland, and in fact the entire Arctic region,” considering that reaching a final solution would be “great for the United States of America and all NATO countries.”
The U.S. President added that, based on this understanding, he has decided to postpone the imposition of customs duties that were scheduled to take effect starting on February 1.
Trump also revealed additional discussions taking place regarding the “Golden Dome” project related to Greenland, noting that further details will be announced successively as the talks develop.
He indicated that Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and Special Envoy Steve Witkoff, in addition to other officials “as needed,” will undertake the task of managing these negotiations and will report directly to him.
