موجة صقيع قاسية تجتاح لبنان مع وصول منخفض جوي وأجواء شديدة البرودة!

Lebanon is witnessing rapid weather transformations in the coming days, transitioning from extreme cold and strong winds to a gradual rise in temperatures.

Amidst this cold wave sweeping the country, Mohammad Kanj, head of surface estimations at the Meteorological Department at Beirut Airport, warned of a sharp drop in temperatures reaching freezing point in the coming hours, especially in mountainous and Bekaa regions, before weather conditions gradually improve starting on Thursday.

Kanj explained in a statement to that temperatures tomorrow will be icy at altitudes exceeding 600 meters, ranging between one and two degrees Celsius, and will reach zero in mountainous areas. As for the Bekaa, especially in Zahle, temperatures are expected to drop below zero by two degrees during the morning.

He pointed out that this cold weather will gradually begin to fade starting on Thursday morning, with a noticeable rise in temperatures by at least 4 to 5 degrees, thus exceeding seasonal averages.

Kanj noted that Thursday will be partly to mostly cloudy, with medium and high clouds, accompanied by active winds that may reach speeds of 70 kilometers per hour, as a result of the flow of a cold air mass loaded with humidity and rain.

He added that Lebanon will be affected by a rapid atmospheric depression lasting for approximately 24 hours, then it will begin to gradually recede, with some weather fluctuations remaining until the end of its impact.

Kanj concluded his statement by pointing out that Friday will be noticeably rainy, with chances of sunshine and snowfall at altitudes close to 1500 meters.
