The Syrian Arab News Agency “SANA” reported that the Governor of the Central Bank of Syria, Abdul Qader Al-Husariya, stated that he has not yet received any official notification from any bank, financial institution, or even individuals about cases of counterfeiting of the new currency.
In a post on Facebook on Thursday, Al-Husariya stated: “Usually, as soon as we are notified by a bank or financial institution of a case of forgery, it is dealt with directly in cooperation with the competent authorities at the Ministry of Interior.”
Al-Husariya affirmed that all the rumors circulating on social media or in public conversations are nothing more than baseless rumors, stemming from misunderstanding, fear, or an attempt to distort, and do not rely on any official information, or may aim to increase the number of views away from reality.
Al-Husariya pointed out that verifying the validity of news is everyone’s responsibility, and called for not being swayed by unreliable news, and relying only on statements issued by the Central Bank of Syria, due to the importance of this in maintaining stability and avoiding unnecessary panic, while emphasizing the need to inform the Central Bank of any cases of forgery so that they can be dealt with immediately.
