Albacete Balompié v Real Madrid - Copa del Rey

Criticism pours in on the Royal team in Arbeloa’s first test

The Spanish press has launched a fierce attack on Real Madrid after their surprise elimination from the round of 16 of the Copa del Rey at the hands of Albacete, one of the teams in the second division.

Real Madrid suffered a (3-2) defeat in the first match of their new coach, “Álvaro Arbeloa,” against Albacete, who are in 17th place in the second division.

The newspaper “AS” wrote in its headline: “Disaster from the beginning,” in reference to the faltering start of the new coach “Arbeloa.”

In contrast, the newspaper “Marca” commented: “A real disgrace to Madrid.”

As for the Catalan newspapers, they were even harsher in their headlines, as the newspaper “Sport” wrote: “Humiliating insult to Real Madrid in Albacete.”

While the newspaper “Mundo Deportivo” wrote: “Madrid Arbeloa forever.”

It is worth noting that Real Madrid missed a number of their prominent stars, most notably “Kylian Mbappé,” “Jude Bellingham,” and “Rodrygo,” but the performance was disappointing under the leadership of “Arbeloa.”

The Royal team was behind with a score of (2-1) before “Gonzalo García” equalized the score in the 90+1 minute, but conceded a killer goal 3 minutes later that knocked them out of the Copa del Rey.

This is the second tournament that Real Madrid has lost this season, after losing the Spanish Super Cup final to their rival Barcelona (3-2) last Sunday, which led to the dismissal of coach “Xabi Alonso” and the appointment of “Arbeloa” as his replacement.
