The Royal Club had published an official statement confirming that the decision was by mutual consent between the two parties, while emphasizing “Alonso’s” historical status within the club, describing him as a Real Madrid legend who represented its values, and also thanked him and his technical staff for the period they spent with the team.
But behind the scenes, the Spanish newspaper “AS” revealed that “Alonso” personally requested to leave his position on the night of the loss, in a surprising decision that confirmed that the El Clásico match was not the only reason behind the departure, but rather came after an internal conviction by the coach not to continue in the next stage.
Quickly, Real Madrid announced the appointment of “Álvaro Arbeloa” as the new coach of the first team, in an attempt to establish stability and end the subject of departure, while “Alonso’s” latest action still raises many questions, as the first clear reaction from him after the end of a short but eventful period inside the corridors of the Madrid club.
