Against the backdrop of recent events in Iran, Avichay Adraee, the Israeli army spokesperson, stated via his “X” account that many rumors have been circulating in the past few days.
Adraee confirmed that the Israeli army, as previously mentioned, maintains the highest levels of defensive readiness and is prepared to deal with any unexpected developments if necessary, while stressing that the current protests are an internal Iranian matter.
He added that the Israeli army continues to assess the situation constantly and that the public will be informed of any changes that occur, calling for not being led by rumors or contributing to their spread.
This statement comes amid escalating regional tensions related to the internal situation in Iran, where the country has been witnessing widespread protests for weeks due to living and economic conditions, which have resulted in deaths and arrests, in addition to a widespread disruption of internet services. This coincided with an exchange of sharp statements between Tehran and Washington, with the US hinting at “strong” options that may include military action, in exchange for continued Iranian confirmation of readiness to respond to any potential attack.
In parallel, a wave of rumors and analyses has spread in the past few days about the possibility of expanding the confrontation regionally, especially with regard to Israel, prompting Israeli officials to issue statements aimed at denying these rumors and confirming that the situation is being monitored on the ground and assessed continuously, without referring to any fundamental changes in the current rules of engagement.
