Consequences of losing the Spanish Super Cup against Barcelona
Real Madrid officially announced on Monday the dismissal of their coach “Xabi Alonso,” just hours after their defeat in the Spanish Super Cup final.
Real Madrid lost the Spanish Super Cup title to their eternal rival Barcelona with a score of 3-2 in the final match held on Sunday in Saudi Arabia.
The Royal Club issued an official statement stating: “Real Madrid announces that by mutual agreement between the club and Xabi Alonso, it has been decided to end his tenure as coach of the first team.”
The statement added: “Xabi Alonso will continue to be loved and admired by all Real Madrid fans, as he is a club legend and has always embodied its values… Real Madrid will remain his home.”
The statement concluded: “The club extends its sincere thanks to Xabi Alonso and his technical staff for their efforts and dedication during this period, and wishes them all the best in this new phase of their lives.”
It is worth noting that “Alonso” took over coaching Real Madrid last summer, after the departure of the Italian “Carlo Ancelotti” to coach the Brazilian national team.
