Barcelona president: It seems the defeat was painful for Kylian
Barcelona club president, Joan Laporta, criticized the behavior of Real Madrid star, Frenchman Kylian Mbappé, after the end of the Spanish Super Cup match that was broadcast via the Thamana app, the exclusive carrier of the Saudi Professional League.
Where Mbappé called on his teammates to go straight to the dressing rooms after receiving their second-place medals.
It is noteworthy that Barcelona won the Spanish Super Cup after winning the Clasico 3-2 against Real Madrid in the tournament final.
Laporta commented on Mbappé’s behavior, in statements highlighted by the Spanish newspaper “AS”, saying: “I am surprised by what he did, in victory and defeat one must be generous and respectful. This is sport and the behavior must be natural.”
He added: “I think we were generous in our victory and respected the opposing team, and that is why I cannot understand what happened.”
The Barcelona president confirmed that since the first Clasico match this season, which ended with Real Madrid winning at the “Bernabéu”, there has been a kind of tension between the two teams’ players.
He added: “There was a turning point since the league match, and the players felt some provocation, which is understandable. The truth is that I did not see that special moment of Mbappé on the field, but I understand that it was very difficult and painful moments, they must have been very broken and that is where the reaction came from.”
At the end of his speech, the Barcelona president confirmed that this behavior may be due to frustration from the defeat, and pointed out that the expectations that were in favor of Barça before the match may have an impact, saying: “They imagined that we had greater chances of winning this match, and they were able to verify that on the field, and this in the end is painful… when you see reality as it is.”
