مصر تخطط لاستقطاب 40 مليار دولار سنوياً من قطاع رئيسي في البلاد

The Egyptian vision for comprehensive development reveals a very ambitious goal for the tourism sector, as the state aims to reach sector revenues of $40.5 billion by the fiscal year 2029/2030.

This ambitious endeavor comes as part of “Egypt Vision 2030” and within the framework of the national plan prepared by the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development in cooperation with various stakeholders, with the aim of strengthening the position of tourism as a key driver of economic growth, especially after the strong recovery witnessed by the sector in the period 2024-2025, which reflects confidence in the ability of tourism to become one of the most important pillars of the national economy and sources of hard currency.

The plan relies on a two-pronged strategy that focuses on increasing the volume of demand and the value of spending simultaneously, by gradually raising the average tourist spending per night from $93.3 in the past fiscal year (2024) to $135 by 2029/2030. This is achieved by improving the level of services, diversifying the tourism product, and focusing on attracting tourists with high purchasing power.

The plan also aims to increase the number of tourist nights spent by tourists in Egypt to 300 million nights annually, compared to 164.4 million nights in 2024, by extending the average length of stay to about 10 nights by 2030, in addition to attracting more visitors.

The plan also includes a significant expansion of hotel capacity, as the program aims to reach 484,000 hotel rooms by 2030, compared to 228,000 rooms at the end of 2024, which represents a growth of almost more than double, with a particular focus on investment in luxury hotels and high-end resorts.

Despite international expectations that indicate the possibility of achieving revenues ranging between $19 and $20 billion by 2029, the national plan adopts more ambitious goals by focusing on high-value tourism and increasing the spending of each tourist, with official expectations of attracting 30 million tourists annually by the end of the decade.

Egypt seeks to strengthen its position as one of the most prominent tourist destinations in the world, with increasing the sector’s contribution to GDP, creating more job opportunities, and supporting the foreign exchange reserve during the next five years.
