The Committee of Contractors in Public Administrations expressed its “full and unequivocal” solidarity with the statement of the Association of Public Administration Employees, affirming its absolute support for the strike called for by the Association, justifying it as “a legitimate response to the policy of denial, procrastination, and delay pursued by the authority against workers in the public sector.”
The committee clarified in its first statement that “the contractors, who constitute the backbone of the workflow in public administrations, have been living for many years in degrading and unfair living and professional conditions, as a result of the absence of any real will by the authority to address their files, or to secure the minimum of rights that guarantee job stability and human dignity.”
The committee also announced its preparation of a draft of detailed and clear demands specific to contractors in public administrations, which will be presented during official meetings with the relevant authorities, and includes key demands that are “indivisible or negotiable,” starting with the recovery of the three missing ranks since 2017, and up to the enactment of a retirement law for contractors, granting additional allowances for holders of higher degrees, in addition to other long-awaited rights.
In conclusion, the committee affirmed the unification of visions and goals with the Association of Public Administration Employees, and called on all contractors to fully comply with the strike, warning that giving up rights is “out of the question,” and stressing that continuing to ignore the demands will lead to taking successive escalatory measures until the full realization of the demands.
