Confirming that the foul called against “Bellingham” was incorrect.
The match between Real Madrid and Atlético Madrid in the Spanish Super Cup semi-final, which ended with the Royal team winning (2-1) and qualifying to face Barcelona in the final, witnessed widespread refereeing controversy.
The Spanish Super Cup matches are broadcast exclusively via the “Thamanya” app, which also broadcasts Saudi Roshan League matches.
During one scene, Gonzalo Garcia, the Real Madrid striker, made a violent tackle with his foot on the leg of Atlético player “Popiel,” in a scene that many saw as deserving a direct red card.
But the referee did not even give him a yellow card, and the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) did not intervene, allowing the White team’s striker to complete the match and participate in the final.
In contrast, VAR intervened in Atlético Madrid’s goal scored by “Alexander Sorloth” (1-2), where the play was checked to verify a possible foul by the Norwegian striker on defender “Raúl Asensio.”
After review, the referees decided there was no violation, and the goal was counted.
Atlético Madrid players and fans also expressed their anger at the way Real Madrid’s first goal was counted, scored by “Fede Valverde” in the second minute from a direct free kick, resulting from a foul called on an Atlético Madrid player against “Jude Bellingham.”
Former international referee “Iturralde González” commented on the Spanish radio station “Cadena SER” saying: “There is no foul against Bellingham,” considering that Real Madrid’s first goal came as a result of a wrong refereeing decision.
