FBL-AFR-2025-MATCH 39-MAR-TZA

Why is the announcement of the referee for the Morocco-Cameroon match delayed?

The Confederation of African Football has not yet revealed the names of the referees who will officiate the “Morocco-Cameroon” match in the quarter-finals of the African Cup of Nations.

The match between “Morocco and Cameroon” is scheduled to take place tomorrow, Friday, at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat.

The “Hesport” newspaper reported that the Moroccan Football Federation submitted an official complaint to the “CAF” due to the delay in announcing the refereeing crew for the crucial match against the “Cameroon” team.

The Moroccan newspaper added that “the Moroccan Football Federation considered the delay in announcing the identity of the referees to be inconsistent with the organizational standards of major continental tournaments.”

It pointed out that “CAF’s delay raises doubts about the absence of the principle of transparency, which opens the door to interpretations and rumors.”

This comes amid reports of a possible assignment of the Egyptian referee “Amin Omar” to manage this match.

In a related context, press sources reported that “Samuel Eto’o,” the president of the Cameroonian Federation, strongly opposes the idea of assigning the refereeing duties in his country’s match against Morocco to an Arab referee.

The sources confirmed that “Eto’o” categorically rejects the appointment of an Arab refereeing crew and is ready to take escalating measures.
